Mark 2: 3-5 (the story of the first Mobility Worldwide volunteers)
Four friends came bringing with them their leg disabled neighbor.
And they couldn't get close to Jesus because of the crowd.
They removed the roof, making an opening above Jesus.
They let down the bed on which their leg disabled neighbor lay.
And Jesus saw the believing loyalty of the friends and said to the leg disabled man,
"Your sins are forgiven."
In a special and meaningful way, I see this story lived out every day at the Mobility Worldwide shop. It's the story of friends and their leg disabled neighbor.
Their neighbor has been paralyzed from an accident, possibly a fall ...maybe a land mine, polio, or even a birth defect. But it didn't matter, he was their neighbor.
Each of the friends had recently met the man named Jesus. Had not everyone heard of Jesus? He was known far and wide in the Galilee as a miracle healer ...restoring sight to the blind and hearing to the deaf. In fact, even Jesus himself, claimed the power to forgive sins.
The friends experienced Jesus' healing in their own lives. Jesus forgave their sins and gave them a new life.
To show their love for Jesus, the friends wanted to bring knowledge of the saving grace of Jesus to their community and especially to their leg disabled neighbor.
So each morning, after coming before God in prayer, the friends build Mobility Carts for their leg disabled neighbors. And when they finish, they build more, and then more.
Because of the 4 friends' believing loyalty in the power of Jesus to transform lives, indeed, many lives were changed.
Immobility was replaced with mobility, lowliness replaced with dignity, and misfortune replaced with opportunity.
Let's make the world mobile!
