Founder's Story
Because of a devastating accident, I was suddenly forced into an unthinkable reality. A spinal cord injury had left my once able-bodied son paralyzed. He would never be able to walk again. Sadly, five years later, he died. I asked God why.
For years my life’s purpose eluded me. Then, God guided me to a social media video where I learned of a ministry which built and provided mobility devices to people in the developing world. $360 could lift a person from the dirt.
I was inspired. God challenged me to become involved in this unique ministry. I founded an organization which is today known as Make the World Mobile. In fact, that’s our vision statement. It’s a big vision, but God’s up for it.
Today, as an affiliate of Mobility Worldwide, Make the World Mobile is a part of an international network of builders of mobility carts.
As a father of a leg disabled son, I empathize with families in similar situations. And I’ve wanted to show my love for Christ by helping them provide a mobility device for their loved one.
When my son, Sam III received his wheelchair, I could see the change in his life when he was no longer bound to his bed. His outlook on life changed when presented with his opportunity for mobility.
Out of our small, yet adequate quarters in Phenix City, AL, volunteers have since 2017 provided for the mobility needs of more than 1000 families by building mobility carts for their disabled loved ones.
