Earlier this week, on March 1st, we celebrated International Wheelchair Day. Founded by Steve Wilkinson in 2008, this day honors the millions of people worldwide who lack access to mobility while celebrating the incredible resilience of wheelchair users and their caregivers.

At Mobility Worldwide of East Alabama and West Georgia, we don’t just recognize this need—we build the solution.

As one of only a few U.S.-based non-profit manufacturers of rough-terrain mobility carts, we produce 300 units every year. These aren't just chairs; they are life-changers currently being distributed to families in Kenya through our partners at Partners for Care.

Why 75 is the New 40

We are an all-volunteer organization, and our "secret sauce" is our workforce. While our volunteers range from age 11 to 89, we have a special affinity for our retirees.

For a long time, society suggested that turning 75 meant it was time to slow down. We disagree.

We believe 75 is the new 40. Our seniors have more "fuel in the tank" than ever, and we provide the mission to match that energy.

When you join our team, you gain more than a hobby:

  • Brain Power: Learning new technical skills keeps the mind sharp and agile.

  • Heart Health: A sense of purpose is the best stress-reliever on the planet.

  • Connection: You aren't just a volunteer; you’re part of a team working toward a global goal.

Your Wisdom is a Superpower

You’ve spent decades gaining "life smarts." We give you a place to use them. Whether you are a master welder or have never picked up a drill, your hands-on help is what makes the world mobile.

We are currently looking for volunteers in:

  • The Shop: Material cutting (wood, metal, fabric), Welding, Drilling, Sewing, and Metal Prep.

  • The Office: Administration, Communication, and Lean Manufacturing expertise.

  • The Road: Material pickup and delivery (if you have a truck, we have a job!).

  • The Screen: Video production to help tell our story.

Add Life to Your Years

Don't look at retirement as a finish line; see it as a new beginning. Help us turn "wisdom" into "wheels."

Join us, and let’s make the world mobile together.
