During our recent visit to Kenya, I was reminded of the story of Johnson, as told by Connie Cheren.
Johnson "walks" with a stick after being attacked by a bull.
Johnson was a healthy young boy. I don’t know his exact age, but I think from the photo that five is a fair guess. Johnson lives in a rural, coastal community in Kilifi County, Kenya. One day, Johnson was attacked by a bull. In spite of his heroic battle to save himself from the bull, sadly, Johnson’s leg was badly injured.
Medical attention, especially in Kenya’s rural communities, is sparse. Johnson’s family desired to have the boy’s injury treated, but before they could make arrangements, gangrene infected Johnson’s leg, and the lower part had to be amputated.
Fortunately, Johnson’s plight came to the attention of Partners for Care Kenyan staff. Because of donors like you, there was a Mobility Cart available to be given to Johnson. It allowed him to attend school, church, and play with his friends. Without it, Johnson would only be able to “walk” with a stick.
Thanks to you, Johnson’s story ends on a positive note. Unfortunately, there are not enough Mobility Carts for all the mobility challenged people in Kenya.
If you are an active donor, I say thank you for the difference that you are making in the lives of the leg disabled of Kenya.
If you have thought about joining the movement as an active donor or volunteer, why not act now. The Give button will take you to the giving page.
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9
